My windows leak something fierce, so something must be done. I've already replaced the rubber seals on the outside of the glass with a glazing sealant, so I think it must be the seal between the frame and the cabin side. Plan A is to replace whatever's there (doesn't look like much) with butyl tape.

Are there any gotchas I need to know about before I start unscrewing things?

Undo and remove the screws, the inner frame should come away. Its then a case of removing the main frame that will possibly be held in place by the mastic. Clean renew mastic and replace. I've used arbomast br non setting sealant in the past.
Also in the past I pulled out the window rubbers, cleaned the gap and filled up with sealant. Windows still leaked so I did a total rebuild. Only bit that still let's by is the hopper windows, but it is at an acceptable amount. Everyone said get rid of the opening bits but I do like the fresh air that the windows give in all the cabins.

Thank you. I hoped that would be the case, but I've been DIYing long enough to prefer asking a stupid question than making a stupid mistake!

Is Arbomast basically butyl tape in a tube? Also, would it be a good idea to put the windows back, leaving the screws slack for a couple of days then tighten them down?

Butyl in a tube. I haven't used the tape before. The tube stuff sticks like s**t to a blanket so if using do a dry fit and mask off. Makes cleaning up easier!
I tightened straight up and rechecked a few days later. My window frames had a grove to persumably trap some sealant.
