I have a Prout cat which does not have a Hull Anode

The Sonic leg drive does as does the prop, which lifts out of the water when not used

Would it be worth while fitting a hull anode, to protect the S/S rudder stocks and rudder shoes
( which have been replaced due to corrosion ) and bonding them

This will also allow me to fit a Galvanic insulator, for when I am plugged into the national grid

or is it unneccessary

You only need to protect those things that form an electrical circuit. Through hulls, for instance, are not connected to anything other than the hull, so need no protection. The rudder shoes are just lumps of metal bolted to the rudder, there is no electrical circuit so they don't need protecting from galvanic corrosion. Same with the rudder stocks, if there is no circuit they are fine as they are.

If you fitted a hull anode and then bonded any of those items to it, they still won't make a circuit to shore power, unless you bond the anode circuit to the shore power ground (usually done via the DC negative). In that case you will have made a circuit and would need a galvanic isolator. What you would be doing in reality is creating a problem and fitting a solution to the problem.

If your shore power earth is not connected to the boats 12v negative there is no need for a galvanic isolator.

In short, leave well alone :)
