I can't seem to get answers I need with on line research. My boat's engines are 2 No CAT 3126TA serial numbers 8NM 01133 and 01134 here is the issue in a nutshell.
The parts manual says that the water temp regulators should be part No 2845421. As far as I can ascertain these have a 97 deg C operating temperature. What was fixed on my engines at last service [2014] is part No 1028392. Finnings confirm that CAT 1028392 was fitted to the engine when it left the factory in 1996/97. These have an operating temperature of [as far as I am able to ascertain] 82 deg C.
I am really worried that I may mess up the engines if I fix the wrong type water temperature regulation devices.
The boat is in England UK and all I want to do is install the most appropriate water temperature for where the boat is located ie Southwest UK.
My gut instinct is that these engines would prefer to operate at higher temperatures - in the cold environment they are in.
Can anyone please advise if;
1.my assessment of operating temperatures is correct; and
2.the optimum water temperature regulator appropriate for these engines in this location.
I'm trying to do the best thing for the engines can anybody advise me?
