We have a 1kg tin on our fine craft, although not anticipating using it until; the rust marks develop on the label.

So is this stuff any good, then? I'd like to be able to march down to Aldi and stock up on loads of it, but don't want to do that if it turns out to be nasty. But if I buy one tin to try it out, being a "special buy" it won't be there a week later when I decide I like it and it's time to get the bulk stocks.

A different kind of "can gamble" to the traditional opening-labelless-tins-at-random one!

It is of acceptable 'tinned' quality.

Also, not so special, it comes up about once a quarter. Recommended to give it a go.

Like cup a soup, perfectly acceptable on boat but not at home. Easy quick and if cooked a la Dylan, no washing up.

The cassoulet is most excellent, and at 840g per tin more than enough to feed two. Don't bother with the Petit Sale. It's vile.

I'll certainly be down at my Aldi on Thursday.

I bought a few as well. Untouched crates of the stuff standing there, so maybe the natives of Southampton don't appreciate it and I will be able to go back to stock up after a test run.

I bought one tin of the Petit Salé to try out as well, though I will have a backup plan for the evening I decide to try it, in case I agree with Russell's "vile" assessment!

Just shared a tin of cassoulet with SWMBO as she was curious. She was well impressed. A hefty meal for less than a quid each.
