Is this a good thing? I am looking at an Eventide 24 which says it was Cascover sheathed from new? I am aware of the potential problems behind this sort of thing, but do these apply if the hull is sheathed from new, and the hull is of plywood?

Yes definitely - extends the life a long way PROVIDED it has not been damaged in any way.

I have an Eventide 26 sheathed from new aprox 1980 launch, and the hull remains watertight and in sound condition.

However, ply is ply and not as durable as timber, so look around carefully particularly the gunwales, the low bulkheads where the decks drop to the cockpit, and anywhere rain could stand.

Try the Eventide Owners Group who may well have info on the boat you are looking at.

Good luck - they are nice boats!
