Carver 30

Been looking at a new plaything this weekend, Carver 30 pristine externally, internally requires major work but nothing what can't be rectified. The question is she's been re-engined with twin Volvo 306hp diesels, to me these seem rather large for a 30 footer, can anyone forsee any problems i.e. strength of hull etc??

Unusually, I have never heard of this design, are you sure it is the correct name? Who was the designer/buider. You may mean a Carter 30 ? designed by Dick Carter?? If thats the one I can give you more info if you want.

Thanks for your response, but it's a Carver 30 Motor cruiser, American built in the early eighties.

Do a search on the forums.Story of Carver with real problems..... ref engine/gearbox ..........from what I can recall the thing kept on b........ing gearboxes due to weak design engine mounts.Owner posted hearabouts with his tale of woe.
