Can anyone suggest a carrier who will take paint? Royal Mail/Parcelforce, Hermes and the various Parcelmonkey carriers won't, but there must be some because I have had paint delivered in the past. Alas I didn't keep the packaging ...

I've just received some from Jotun, by UK Mail.
I understand there are special provisions about packing paint. I think there must be both an outer damage resistant pack i.e. a strong cardboard box and an inner leakproof pack to retain any spillage from container damage or lid coming off.
The Jotun stuff is in a heat sealed strong poly bag inside the box.
Last week I got a can of varnish from another supplier. That had the lid end wrapped in lots of parcel tape, and the whole can wrapped in several layers of strong self adhesive plastic film - not clingfilm - and then an outer pack - can't remember if it was a box or just padded bag material. This was only 500ml, maybe regs are tighter for bigger tins.
Sometimes there are spring clips to hold the lid in more securely too.

Business accounts have different allowable carriage rules to private persons, presumably as professionals they can be trusted to package properly.

Similar problem when posting life jacket co2 canisters.

had some delivered by UKMail last week.

Alas their terms and conditions say

12.1 You acknowledge that it is not our policy to carry Consignments
containing any food (excluding dried food and cereals), liquids, paints,
inks (excluding printer cartridges or refills), plants, drugs, medicines or
alcoholic beverages ...

which I presume reflects the private vs commercial consignor issue identified by Stork_III. I've had a Shiply quote of £55, but that is probably going to deter the chap who is thinking of buying a tin of deck paint from me ...

Wrap it well using some of the methods described above put it in a box & fib about the contents,as long as you make a good job of ensuring it doesn't leak it should be fine

Not always a winner as my daughter found out when the Mail stopped her parcel containing birthday perfume from her granddad - he'd neglected to mention it on the parcel.. not sure how they knew... xray???
