Anyone chartered a sailing boat in the carribean recently? I'm on a tight budget, mum dad and two kids aged 5 and 7. Bareboat charter preferred

I've sailed my own boat a lot around UK and Irish waters, so feel confident with a monohull

This an aspiration only at the moment...

Conch Charters out of Road Town Tortola is one to look at. Boats are older than the Moorings Sunsail fleets but the prices are lower.

Also try Barefoot out of St Vincent.

BVI is easier sailing than the Grenadines but neither are that challenging. Mind you there are a few in the Grenadines that might be disagreeing with me as we have just had a period of reinforced trades 25 to 30 knots and a very strong wave that dumped 6 inches of rain on the 24th December.

+1 We chartered from Moorings earlier this year but noted Conch as the one to go for next time. More of a "family firm" than Moorings/Sunsail. Nice looking boats.

We have been chartering in the British Virgin Islands with BVI Yacht Charters ( http://http://www.bviyachtcharters.com ) in october.
Good service, friendly people, boat had new sails, everything perfect. Our boat was an Oceanis 34 ("Nina Rose"), lots of room for a family with 2 Children.

BVI are ideal as all the islands are close together and kids won't get bored. Snorkeling is excellent.

Enjoy

+1 for BVI Yacht Charters. Have chartered with them a couple of times and I think they're one of the best value companies in the BVIs. Their service is very good too.
