I'm going to the carribean for 4 months at the end of next month, is it worth me waiting to get new sailing gear and bits and bobs out there or is there not much price difference?

Well, you do need a palm frond skirt for formal occasions - probably quite reasonably priced; everything else, with the possible exception of rum and pineapples, is expensive in the islands.

Google Island Water World and Budget Marine. They are the main chandlers. Sint Maarten the place to buy stuff.

Errrr what sort of sailing gear were you thining about?

Forget fleeces, Goretex and wellies.

Think budgie smugglers bare feet and Raybans.

Nooo, I'm sorted cold weather climate clothing wise, after this summer! :D

No i'm after an Icom VHF with earpiece, handheld GPS, Dyneema (lot's of) and any other nice little bits like that.

If you can arrange a stop off in the USA en route that would be the best option for buying boat gear. An Icom handheld costing $200 in USA will be nearer $300 in the Caribbean, I'm guessing.
