Hello All

Trying to find information about ferries in the Caribbean.

Can anyone help with links etc?

I am looking for ferries between Antiga and St. Martin, as well as a general resource since will have friends and family flying out to join us while we move the boat from St. martin to Trinidad.

Any pointers will be appreciated

Thanks
Charles

Know you can fly LIAT from Antigua to St.Martin. They operate service, i.e Antigua - St.Kitts - St.Martin - BVI, just buy ticket |(on-line or poss. at airport), hop on, bit like a bus/ferry, no reserved seating. They're not too fussy about carrying on bit more than usual amount of hand luggage.

Tip - if there is a big gap between connecting flights in Antigua - leave the airport, it's not the nicest let's say and nip just over the road to the cricket pub (pub isn't best description, it's really rather lovely, with nice food, very clean and very comfortable - beats that departure lounge any day, but be careful with passport control, i.e. stay in transit through Antigua and thereby avoid the $50 departure tax!

I agree, LIAT are your best choice, and seem to be the cheapest and most basic of the Caribbean Airlines, which I guess it what your looking for.

They were a little difficult about carrying my surfboard, but then name an airline which isn't.

Only experience of Inter Island ferries was in the Grenadines. (Tip- if your going that way and need to go to St. Vincent, leave the boat in Bequia and get the ferry over)

There are ferries St Martin to Saba, Statia and St Barts. Used to be Antigua to Montserrat but that had stopped when I was in Montserrat late November.

Not to worry - Found a link.

$66 direct, $22 via St. Kitts

Please remmember that Liat stands for "Leaves Island Any Time" they are notoriously late, you will be flying an aged DH-8, the extra $44 may be worth it to avoid the additional take off and landing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If this was a price from Antigua it may well be Caribian$ so about half the cost calculated in US$ well worht checking.

Hi Charles,

As well as LIAT, you can also fly Carribean Star/Sun Airlines and I'm sure there's a third. With these 3 airlines you get good a good choice of differing departure times which may make life easier for arriving/departing relatives to make connecting flights.

I also found that Opodo, Travelocity and the other online travel booking agents had in some cases better deals that going to the airlines direct.

HTH,

Natalie
