which ones? Guess from your bio you're buying the boat in Cardiff and sailing it back to your home port?

Main thing in Bristol Chanel id don't [--word removed--] about with the tides. With 4 or 5 kts of boat speed you can make Swansea in one go, but have a backup plan. If the boat isnew to you I'd be inclined to make the first few hops more leisurely, say Cardiff-Minehead or Porlock, then Swansea.

Call Barrage Control on Ch 18 before making your way over.

Rest is usual common sense...

We did Cardiff to Dale, Milford Haven in one 12 hour hop last year in a Moody 46. Left 8.30 am (arrived 8.30ish pm), two hours before hi water and had a good push off the tide for most of the way, left Dale the next morn at 8.30ish. this positioned us well for Jack sound and Ramsay at slack water, arrived pwllheli at 8.30 ish that night.

Sorry
posted to the other OP,
The Moody draws 1.9m ish, so left Penarth 2 hours before high water, Punched the tide for 2 hours then this gave a good outgoing tide to give a good push west.
