Has anybody tried parking a car at Stansted airport lately? There used to be a car park on the right just after you came off the A120, and you caught a shuttle bus to the terminal. When I flew out of Stansted last October, it was closed, and I was directed to the blue car park where I just got out, and my friend drove home. I need to know where my friend can park and wait until my flight arrives, without great charges, prior arrangements and/or restrictions. I looked on the Stansted website and I found :-

There is a free pick up point at Stansted, signposted as 'Free Set Down'. Located inside Stansted's Mid Stay car park, you are allowed an hour's free parking, with a small £2 charge for up to 2 hours.

This is as it always was, but not last October. I read the rest of the airports car parking arrangements on the website, it is very different. Some parking making huge charges for very little

I don't know about these post-Covid days but my SiL booked a parking place there two or three years ago and ended up driving round in circles for half an hour trying to find a place in the reserved park, having dropped off the family.

The usual place is the layby about 1.5 miles east of Stansted on the A120. Phone when you get out of the airport and your friend should meet you in about 5 minutes.

Good idea, but neither my friend or I have a mobile phones ... must get one

I think the word to describe the automatic assumption that everyone has a mobile phone is not "Cretacious" but "cretinous".

Come off it. Even I have a smartish phone. Granted that it has run out of memory and is only rarely switched on, but my street cred would take a dive if I were seen out with my wife's contraption.

you ask for help on here but don’t seem to help yourself. Just because you have a mobile and use it does not mean you don’t have a life in fact it means the opposite. And just in case you are not aware this is a boat forum not a car park one........ Some people

According to Thesauruss cretin is; very stupid. idiotic, moronic

What ever else I am, I am not stupid, idiotic or moronic. I am living my life without feeling the need of a mobile phone, I am free, and feel free
I am sorry about the inadvertent alliteration. The word cretin had not entered my mind. I was just trying to avoid the cliched ‘Jurassic’. I’m sure that nobody would mistake you for a moron, would they?
