Car Insurance (boaty - Honest!)

We're planning to take the car abroad from the UK this year, which may involve leaving it at the (foreign) marina (while we're sailing - the boat is already abroad), or at the (foreign) airport if we have to nip back to the UK. I'm told that no UK insurer is prepared to insure a (UK registered) car whilst 'left' (I'm not sure of the absolute limitations).

Has anyone else come across this, and if so, what do you do?

Get a friend to keep an eye on it daily ..... if you know what I mean. It won't be 'left' then will it ?
