There I was doing 25 knots and I did an emergency stop and it stood on its nose.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There were two guys on board, both of whom survived, though the guy you can see in this photo (port side, aft) dislocated his shoulder I think. One of the later pictures in the series shows both of the crew floating clear of the boat.
Somewhere in the Middle East, iirc. Bit of a mess... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It ended up upside down, bit like toast falling butter side down. Unlikely because it ended up as an insurance write off, if it had fallen back and landed the right way up, it would just have needed a bit of a wipe down!
''Fing is , awraht, them marina berths are all abaat the lengthitude of the bleedin boat. So,wot with me bein' in the crane hire bis an all, I reckon we're onto a winner here. Course Alf,the stupid sod , couldn't tie a proper nautical knot could he ...''
I'll remember this image as the just desserts for any meringue that comes burning up the river like last Sunday when many yachts were enjoying the gentle breeze and sunshine only to be carved up by two thoughtless drivers who veered between the yotties with no respect for the G&T s they were spilling.
"Now Johnny, you know that Mummy has already asked you not to touch that lever. Daddy really will be most awfully cross when he finds out... Now, where IS Daddy?"
Cornelius Higginbotham made quite a splash at the launch party for his latest luxury yacht last week. However his faith in his yard's boathandling skills took something of a nosedive when they incorrectly, he claimed, launched the yacht upside down. The yard however denied any suggestion that they had inadvertently left Higginbotham swimming in the soup. "Our experiment to see whether we could balance a superyacht on its nose was a complete success" a company spokesman, who wished to remain anonymous, commented via mobile phone from Brazil - "it was entirely regrettable but in no way our fault that Higginbotham failed to secure the bottoms of his trouser legs with bicycle clips".
