went for a wander around her the other night, cracking sunset. have wanted to land on her for years. in surprisingly good nick, deck plates and superstructure a bit thin now, but hull plates (mostly!) ok. nearly 40 years now since she sank.

I have sailed around her a few times in Wayfarers over the years but never landed on her. There were some bronze inlet grills on the underside of the hull, probably inlets to a sea chest, that looked as if they could be unscrewed. Probably about the only thing worth salvaging now!

A good article in the link as well, thanks.

sssh - we're going back out soon

not sure how much you would get for them tho, but a curious memento (to add to all the others...)

Great photos.
And congrats on doing something I've been dying to do for years. If you're planning a revisit and need someone to pull on the ropes or make tea I'd be glad to do so for the chance to see her up close.

not heard that one?

tho was wondering if her main prop(s) were still on shaft(s), tho bit unlikely, as i'm sure its the first thing everyone else has thought of

You'd assume so, but the lengthy insurance wrangle that resulted in her not being promptly recovered might have prevented legitimate salvage as well. There would be a fair bit of non-ferrous in the engine room as well, although getting at it now would be hazardous without chopping the whole thing to bits.
