I'm thinking of covering my fibre glassed plywood decks with canvas, partly for cosmetic reasons and partly to provide a better surface. Has anyone done this? is it difficult? does anyone know of an article in PBO or elsewhere describing how to do it? thanks in advance

G'day Peter,

You would have to be confident that no water will get trapped under any cover material, 2 or 3 light coats of epoxy should help.

I have seen Hessian applied with Bondcrete and painted to give a non slip finish in a smooth timber deck. The owner said he did it about 7 years before I asked him what it was.

I have never tried it but will always remember it, very cost effective.

Hi Old Salt Oz,
Lots of questions here for me, what is Hessian, what is Bondcrete, what are the looks like, is it just ok or does it look good and how good...My teak deck is deteriorating fast. I am trying to give it some life now, using a router and rechaulking-how do you spell that?- but I must be prepared for the inevitable.
