Canvas hoods

Hi

Ive searched through previous threads and unable to find any postings that might help. So has anybody had a decent canvas package made for their boat using the old one as a template? If so can anyone recommend a company who might be able to help, I hate just pulling names out of advertised listings.

they used my old one as a templet and it fitted perfect

I am meeting Jim Baumann tomorrow to have my canvas template made up. Hopefully it will all be ready for the big launch back into the big blue in March!/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I had a tonneau cover made for my bayliner by Saundersfoot Automarine (They advertise in "Boat Mart" ) made it on the boat and did a very professional job with some good quality material,so I would think that given a template he would have no trouble .

As a matter of interest how much would you pay for a canopy on a Bayliner 2655 from one of the various manufacturers mentioned. I have been quoted £1300 from a guy who is very good and whom I have used before. Just wondered how competitive he is.

I'm having a complete make-over this winter, a replacement 'hood' for the outside steering position plus a new sun awning covering the whole of the aft deck. But my man certainly didn't want to use the old hood as a template 'cos he said that way you get a new hood that fits as badly as the old one did! Apparently they shrink in one direction, stretch in another etc. So he and his apprentice spent 4 hours on the boat making a model out of polythene, brown paper and cotton-cloth. Can't wait to see the finished article.

Slow boat indeed! She looks quite majestic at 9kts and can manage 11.5 on a good day. Come to think of it, you're right - she's slow but at 18 tonnes it wouldn't pay you to cream across my bow shouting something about being the give way vessel! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Couldn't stand the thought of another UK winter so we have been sunning ourselves out in Australia since November. I'll give you a ring when we return next month. Cheers

My tonneau cost around £375 around 2yrs ago,but it was only a tonneau not a canopy,and my Bayliner at 19ft-6" is just a little shorter than yours!!!
