How do you care for your canvas items aboard. Sprayhoods, dodgers and stuff

Cleaners, re-waterproofing, etc.

Goal is to keep it looking good, protect, and extend life of these things.

Thanks all for your approach.

Take it home in the winter. The only bit we bothered to waterproof was the sprayhood. The HR hood and tent was in fact quite lightweight and after some years we bought replacements and put the old ones on during winter, which helped a lot.

Scarcely bothered to clean them (grey) but occasionally a bit of Patio Magic if any green appeared. The chief risk is to the stitching, which seems the first to suffer from UV, and a bit of re stitching was occasionally needed.

Spray the canvas with patio magic to keep the green at bay
Fabsil on the canvas once a year to aid waterproofing
ideally have covers to protect the plastic screens or keep it out of the sun
remove all in the autumn and reinstate in the spring

Agree with the Patio Magic plus Fabsil (at least a week apart).

But disagree with the remove autumn/ refit spring- that is just extra work ("waste" in process terms). If oriented SW the sprayhood keeps the hatch areas dry. Plus best to keep boat in commission and go sailing.

Our sprayhood stays up 24x365 - not least because solar panels on top keep batteries topped up.
