Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

Thanks Bill...Just hoping my miserable other half will finally see my petulant signing on the dotted line as good news after all when he gets onboard...otherwise I'm looking for a new skipper!

Wow you lucky er person.
If you chuck him...No, what am I saying? I have a wife and children.
I wish you the very best of times with your beautiful new boat.

Vanilla, LOOK NO FURTHER, I'M NOT EVER EVER SULKY, and for a boat like that!, willing to be DOMINATED. OR, willing to do a P/Ex for my old Nicholson (and herself, DON,T TELL HER!), (but I,m having custody of Skye)? Bill.

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

She does look rather gorgeous for sure - and Zig Zag is a nice name (but I hope it is not an omen of headwinds in the offing, and lots of zigging and zagging as a result to bring her home from Sweden....)

Can you perhaps hassle the Rallberg Hussy folk for a few more photos of her please? I would love to see one or two of the earlier construction phases, including the extent of interior outfit before they 'put the lid on' (or do they just laminate in the main bulkheads and then put the deck on prior to completing interior outfit?).

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

I can understand your excitement. What is she, and where is she being built?
I did hear recently that Zig Zag = Slash and Back Slash. No connection I hope!
Happy cruising.

Beautiful! Welcome to the HR clan - you'll enjoy years of quality time with your new boat.

As a clinical psychologist you shoudl have known the effect such a posting would have on us: SHAME ON YOU!... on the other hand, if the others are busy... I am always willing to jack everything in a help out in co-skippering /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

She looks very fine. Are you sailing her back yourself? 8 years ago the weather in April up there was pretty dodgy, so I hope you have better luck.

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

Looks fantastic. Have you been up to see her in build- HR are very accomodating about factory visits. Got mine two years ago and still get that buzz everytime I go aboard. How are you getting her back? I did it via Eayjet and Ryanair !! Sailed her in 5 legs so got to see & experience some of the Baltic, Kiel canal and the Fresian Islands before coming back across the N Sea. Took a bit of organising but with cheap flights to Gothenburg, Copenhagn, Hamburg, Bremen and Amsterdam it made for some great long weekends with various family and friends and took about 2 months in total but a great way of seeing and sailing in some areas that you may not get the chance to see again. It was also a great learning curve in getting to know how she performed and how to park her!! A friend of mine bought his back in one hit but 4 days down the North Sea was a bit tedious! Whatever you do I am sure you will enjy owning her.

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

Lovely stuff. Hand built by swedish girls by the looks of it.

Our HR dept couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery let alone build a boat.

Re: Can\'t sleep for excitement...

Thanks for the kind comments and offers! I need to show the thread to the miserable HWMBO as he won't accept that I might have some "extra appeal" now with a new boat. To think it was him who got me into sailing in the first place and then he cries off when I start making moves to buy and finding the money.

Can't get time off work to bring her back from Sweden, and other family stuff going on, and anyway would be too scared...not just the possibility of horrid weather in the North Sea in April but all those stories about new boats having mega-teething problems. If I recall someone on here does/did HR deliveries and had some harsh words to say on the pre-delivery checks (ahem)! So I've bitten the bullet and emptied the account to have her transported back.

Tiggertoo .... you're obviously a more adenturous academic than the one I got landed with! For the first 500 days waiting for the boat to be built he couldn't even bring himself to mention what I'd done....too shockingly reckless to contemplate. Drove back from SIBS 2006 after having done the bad deed at 6.55pm (after a trip to Guiness bar needless to say) and he didn't even comment. We probably talked about the weather on the journey home! I even ordered a tiller version to keep him happy.

The last week he said he was too busy (watching paint dry I imagine) to see her on the weekend she arrives in the UK. I got round that by inviting his best friend instead... that got a quick rethink, and now he says he might just be able to fit in a quick visit after all /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

So I can really identify with the men on here who have the same problem with reluctant SWMBOs.

By the way I can cope with sulks, bad temper, non-communication, slobbish habits, and worse, but won't be able to cope with someone who doesn't want to sail my boat!

When you say transported back - do you mean back of a lorry or sailed over?
If you're not yet fully committed (paid money) I would definitely go for the 'sailed across' option. In particular in view of the time of year - it would certainly bring to light any 'defects' you should worry about. I've done 3 HR deliveries in the past - on the last two a bloke from the yard came along as well (did cost owner extra). In these days of cost-cutting even HR tends to treat the delivery cruise as QC.

Anyway - enough doom and gloom... congratulations on the new boat.
Nothing beats that 'I have a boat of my own' feeling. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
