I am have a perfectly good Royal Mariner 5.5" brass latch barometer on board. Well it was perfectly good until the glass just fell out and smashed.

I can't find anywhere that can supply a replacement glass. I've tried Google.

I don't think that the barometer is that expensive. It is similar to one I have seen on the US version of eBay selling for $120, but I'm annoyed that I can't get a replacement glass for an otherwise serviceable item. The glass has a bevelled edge and is attached (glued) to the outside of the brass door!

It survived when out in F7 rough seas but just fell apart last week when leaving the marina, very odd.

Has anyone got any ideas where to get a replacement or how to contact the manufacturer?

I'd try a local clock repairer - I am sure they are well used to finding new glass fronts for things.

I agree, I have a favourite clock and broke the glass so took it to a one man band jewellers,he repaired it quite cheaply.Altho I suppose a glass merchant would cut you a round piece of glass.

A round piece of glass, bevelled and with a hole in the middle too... I'm sure it can be made up at a price.

Ideally if anyone has any details of how to get a spare (ready made) part from the manufacturer, please make yourself known...

A good local glass supplier, although not all will be equipped to polish the bevel.

A specialist barometer repairer but the one I was going to suggest appears to be no more! ( not very convenient being in SE London anyway)

Agree with Vic. Try a local glass supplier. He'll be able to cut it but it will need to have the edge ground to shape. If he can't do that himself, he'll be able to get it done.

Agree with the rest of the Committee, I got mine replaced at the local glass merchant. He gave my job to his apprentice who, before my eyes, cut out the shape them cleaned off the sharp circumference. Took him about fifteen minutes .

The cost, a box of biscuits. It was such a small job it wasn’t even worth writing a bill.
