Can't decide whether to go to SIBs this year

My son says I am suffering from "upgrade fever" so I think it is best if I stay away this year before I upgrade my working (hopefully) chart plotter. I quite fancy trying the neat looking AIS system in this week's MBM that has a USB connection but again do I really need it.

Here's an idea, go but leave your wallet at home, but make sure you have a few folding notes for the guinness bar and everyone's happy. :D
 
You know you want to go, just don't go near the chart plotters.

I remember I went one year just to buy a new mono ski, I did buy a really nice one but I also bought a new speed boat and 80hp Merc to go on the back of it!

Then there was the time I bought a S28 and told SWMBO in conversation 3 (ish) months later what I had bought, seem to have got away with that one.

So, thinking about it may be I am not the right person to be telling you to go after all.

I am going, haven't got any purchases planned but apart from the ski I never have!

Sounds like you've already decided to me and are looking to us fellow 'inflicted' souls to talk you out of it... :o Dream on - and repeat after me "I'm a boat-a-holic and proud of it..." :D

I'm going up with a few friends on the last Saturday and hoping for the odd bargain perhaps... (I might need a wallet upgrade before I think of boat upgrades however! :()

P.S. How's the boat coming along? Do you have an ETA yet for back on the water?

SWMBO is working there tomorrow but maybe its best i dont go! i have a long list of things i would like but my credit card has taken a bit of a beating in the last few weeks!

Nothing new to report on boat repairs. Awaiting Insurer to approve revised estimate now engines completely in bits. This process just takes so long :(

Went to see boat a couple of weekends ago. No real change in last 5 months but at least no smell so SWMBOs clean-up of cabin was excellent. Once Insurer gives ok I think it will be all systems go on the repairs so hopefully back by next Spring?

Having sold our boat in July I'm now actually a qualified boat buyer. Yipee. I'm going along on Tuesday with brother-in-law. We won't be buying anything though - I can't afford a new version of what I'm after.

Does anyone else play spot the dick-head salesman at these shows - or is it just us. I know sure as hell they play spot the dick-head customer.
