canopy roof inside covering

just purchased boat came with fibreglass canopy over companion way ,outside finish is fine smooth grp ,but inside is fairly rough grp .its been painted at some point .does anybody have any ideas to give it a more apealing look.ideally flat and smooth .been toying with artex type finish
but not sure if it will stick .could be more trouble getting it off than its worth ,any reccomendations or first hand experiance

I would clean it of completely first using a brass cup wire brush on a grinder. This will not only clean off the paint, but can smooth out the GRP finish. I would then flow coat with resin and gelcoat, sand, fill, then another coat. If you are not happy with the final coat, paint over it with one or two pot enamel.

Teak veneered 4mm marine ply looks good. Treat as you do any other wod on your boat.

My boat has white hardboard held up with hardwood slats . It brightens up the boat and looks very tidy .
