Any recommendations for a canopy maker in West Wales from the forumites in Swansea or possibly Cardiff?
Existing one is on its last legs, but I dont want an identical copy as there are some areas that need improvements.

the guy I used last time has now retired and left the area... bu**er

I've been using

Caroline Stevenson at Hotwells Canvas
07971 727959

I think she is in Bristol, she has been doing repairs for me and seems good. I'm gradually replacing panels on mine, I reckon in 5 years I will have done the whoe thing and be starting again. Not sure if she does whole things but she is very helpful and will no doubt advise.

HI Phil,

We are having a new sprayhood made with Ratseys, they are also doing an enclosure and dodgers on our Westerly. I know the area is a lot smaller on a sailing boat to a motorboat but just to get an idea for the quality of their work.

We have really struggled to find someone in the area who does tight, well fitting canvas work. Ratseys are about the only large company down there doing this type of work.

I know that Andy who used to be on D3 UB, did canvas work, he made a bimini for our previous boat but he doesnt do the framework. If you are looking just for an identical copy of your current covers then he should be able to do it. I know that the stitching & material he used for our bimini were absolutely brilliant, it all depends if you need a new frame/design though or whether you just want an identical copy of your current cover. I have his number here somewhere, will have a look for it if you are interested.

Ratseys are starting work on the 29th, we are hoping it will be done by the end of Feb.

There is a Fairline in the Lower basin that have had covers made by a company in Milford, I havent seen them close up so cant comment, I think the boat is for sale, cant remember the name, it was berthed close to the bottom of the bridge head.

Best wishes
Ian
