Has anyone ever replaced a clear see thro panel in their canopy. Ours has a split in it, to take it to a trimmers means removing the whole canopy leaving boat open to the elements for several days. The only way we can see to do it involves a considerable amount of handstitching. Anybody any ideas of a simpler way?

I took mine to Walton marine trimming and they did new windows for £20 each while i waited . I just turned up with them and asked but im sure if you arrange a time your local trimmer will be able to fit it in .

If you are handy with a sewing machine you can do it yourself. Do not remove the old window but fix the new stuff over it with double sided tape in the seam area and sew it through the lot. Take out the old window with scissors at the end of the job.
However....if you can get it done for twenty quid, bite their hands off. The best quality see through stuff is very expensive and the sailmaker is sure to give your nose a right old twist when he sells it to you!

What ever you do, do not remove the windows as the shape will change. Best idea is to take it to a sailmaker or canvas loft with the windows in it, im sure if you arrange this in advance most lofts will be able to do the job that day!!!
If the windows are removed the cover is as good as useless as the shape will change and new windows will be very different shape /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
