Another yacht quietly evicted from a boat yard and abandoned ?

...................and if you fancy a small yacht complete with a blimming half decent trailer just drive along the Lower Rainham Rd between Funton Brick works and Raspberry Hill. It was there last night about 5.00 pm.

To be cruelly honest it looked in better condition than some boats up for sale.

Is Funton still running ? we closed that about 20 years ago could never find a buyer for the land as it periodically floods.

There is/was another apparently abandoned boat anchored on a part-drying patch of creek near Horrid Hill in December too. Haven't been back this year yet.

Funton Brickworks, who used to make those wonderful unique yellow bricks is long gone although the derelict buildings and workshops are still visible.
The road does flood every now and then on big springs esp. with a bit of NE wind.
All the locals using this particular rat run, know if its possible to drive through or go the long way round.
The foreshore and marsh is owned by a "Preservation Society" (ie. people who shoot lead at wild foul for fun) they also accost folks who have the temerity to land below the HW mark on their foreshore in Stangate Creek and tell them to clear off.
The road that runs past the marsh has been the location of choice for every scumbag since time began to dump just about anything and everything that they cannot be bothered to take to the council tip about 3 miles away.
On one occassion the road was actually blocked by dumping in the middle of the road.

Just up the road Raspberry Hill, a massive site where the land owner had been illegally dumping all sorts waste for years while the EA looked on.

The little yacht was dumped ? by the roadside in one of the bits not already occupied with old fridges and builders waste.
