Well its looks like Cannes 2020 has been cancelled for this year

There were gonna be some really cool new launches too. Fort Lauderdale will probably be cancelled too ?

Covid has pretty much written off any major events for this year.

Got an invite this week from the Roma dealer , but was not gonna go anyhow for obvious reasons ....not seeking out crowds and tho its cramped at the best of times , although for once they have split It mobos in the main port and sail boats in the smaller one .
I think Ferretti have cancelled there Monaco preview too , of Albert has ? .We would have declined that too btw

Genoa in my recent experience is far better , bigger venue more spread out so easy to get Covid complaint , wider aisles and pontoons etc .Its the first week in Oct and they are thinking of extending it more days , because they can to thin down the crowd density .
Wether it ends up canceled at short notice remains to be seen .
If is on I would suggest go there instead imho it’s better .

Not sure we will be going but as of yesterday the Ferretti group shin dig is still on.

I had all my invites come through but the wife said I couldn’t go. And now it’s canceled

They have lengthen the Monaco “ shin dig “ , to span 4 days instead of the week end before Cannes previously .
But the venue on the previous Fri nights has been packed listening to the guest singer .
We are not going either this year can,t see it being safe , aside if iam honest I have done it to death recently and it’s boring just going out on your own testing them , you need a few folks a group to share thoughts and indeed the helm so you can have a good poke around while it’s underway .
It feels risky at the moment and with Corvid restrictions in the yacht club .....no atmosphere wearing a mask and keeping to safe social distancing ....its as much about the people as the boats

How ever one thing I have learned from going out helming them is I will never buy a boat without a test drive .
looks are deceptive.

Be a bit sterile without this .

Just can,t see how you can shoot the breeze or be allowed to stand about chatting .

These Covid restrictions are just ridiculous and totally unnecessary. There are more sinister forces at work. But i dont want to get into politics.

Ive decided to put my plans to buy a boat on hold till next year now.

However, if they open the USA borders in the Autumn then i may look at a Beneteau Swift Trawler 30 and just have fun on the ICW for 3 or 4 months until things get back to normal (y)

A Swift Trawler 30 would be a good choice but for one couple only. If there are lots of restaurants, grocery shops and laundromats nearby then you don’t need a big boat (but they are nicer!)
Go to the Lounge, and express all your political opinions. You will find much banter there, just as long as you remember that most members there lost their minds on long sea voyages ?
