Discussions on a cold winters day with some friends let us to realise that we “need” to see some boats in the sunshine..

Anyone have any suggestions of where to stay (or where to avoid) when visiting Cannes for the show?

We would be looking for self catering place for a couple of nights, most likely Friday 12th and Saturday 13th Sept..

Never been to South of France so i am totally blind.. your help is appreciated as always.

Thanks
Howard

Cannes show is VERY well worth the trip.
Mcanderson has a place he rents out, in Beaulieu, a lovely town with a nice marina. 30 minutes nice coastal train ride from Cannes, and easy walk to/from station at either end. Link in his signature iirc
Loads of airbnb in Cannes/Antibes etc
If you decide to hotel. the very nearest plush hotel is Majestic (a Barriere group hotel) - much recommended and 1 minute from the boat show. Slightly more budget-friendly and second-nearest to the boat show is the Canopy-by-Hilton.
Nowhere that I'd say "avoid"
If you want more than just Cannes, and loads more boats to look at, an airbnb in Antibes is also a great idea. If you want to add a day to your trip and see the local coast you're welcome to borrow our RIB for a day Howard, if it's free then - I don't yet have its summer itinerary but it's likely free.

We stayed in Nice last year , strait from the plane on monorail to centre of Nice , a few euro. Then train to Boat Show so easy.

Hi Zippy,

It’s a great show as everyone has said. Can get very hot as the wind gets blocked on some of the display areas and the temps will be 30+. Still most boats have the aircon on so relief is at hand. My wife now won’t got due to this as she loves the sun!

Like the others have said, stay in Cannes or one of the larger towns. The train service is excellent and cheap. There is a train terminal only 5 mins walk from Nice Airport Terminal 1 where trains will now depart every 15 minutes.

As you are coming to look at boats I would stay in Antibes over Nice, and I really like Nice. Antibes has a much bigger boating community. Also it is only 10-15. Inures from Cannes by train.

Sorry to say our apartment is already booked for most of 2025 so I can’t offer that as a solution.

Happy to help with suggestions if you need some.

Shane.

Thanks for the kind words Colin. I know I owe you some stuff - I have been very slow thinking about it - will try to finish it soon. 2024 was immensely busy with projects and IPO-ing our company and I rarely left the office before midnight! Best wishes (y)
