We had a wedding here at Ashmount last weekend. What a diabolical mess has been left behind. Huge ruts, torn ground, muddy tracks, general mayhem.

Judging by the aftermath here the organisers of Goring & Streatley Regatta and the Traditional Boat Rally are very wise in cancelling those events.

The plain fact is that riverside grounds may look innocent and appealing but just under a thin layer of grass lays a quagmire ready to erupt.

We cancelled a weding at Chestnuts a few years ago for exactly that reason. The logistics of moving a 100+ weddsing party to a different location were challengin, but we did it. A good move as the ground was sodden.

Looked all very smart as we passed by on Sunday - Giant open fronted marquee with an uninterrupted view of the Frog & Nightgown opposite..

Such a same as your meadow is always smartly mown. I see you've managed to fix the flagpole.

(On first reading, I thought you were complaining that it was the guests that had made a mess)
