Will be heading out from the Med to the Canaries before the Autumn sets in here. Having no previous experience of the Canaries, my question to the forum is the best place to head for a haul out ie, a good safe boatyard, best value for money bearing in mind I will need good access via the airport ready to re-launch in December. Any advice would be appreciated.
 
The best value is Las Palmas, that is if you can get in with the ARC coming up. Last I heard they were still offering berths which is strange as they normally kick everyone in the marina out to the anchorage next door until after the ARC has left. Good haul out facilities and the biggest chandler in the Canaries in the marina (not necessarily the cheapest though).

I´ll look more into Las Palmas. Shouldn´t be a problem to lift me, the boat is only 8m. By the sound of it with the "arcers" I´m better off out of the water if the situation gets tight with berths in the water. Many Thanks
 
Canary Island Marinas/lift out

Two possibilities come to mind:
1. Marina Rubicon in Lanzarotte. Clean modern tidy and spacious plus cheapish charter flights to UK. Nearby is probably best hangout in Canaries (lift out may be possible but unlikely) at the little sandy island of Graciosa - you should go there anyway!
2, Teneriffe just near to Santa Cruz in NE in fishing harbour - Darsena Pesquera, is a haul out facility much used by those about to cross over to Caribbean for prior bottm paint etc.

La Gomera is another must vist place with good marina. Remember in Canaries vacant marina berths are few and far between - if you get one and like it stay in it!! Anchoring is extremely difficult.

i use Puerto calero in Lanzarote, limit on beam is 7.35metres, i'm 7.32 and they do it very carefully every time. 15mins to airport in arrecife. No idea of relative cost since not tried others. Seems not to expensive.
 
On the basis of getting work done, and of a very pleasant place to be, I would recommend Puerto Calero. Lucy in the Varadero speaks very good English. There are a no. of people about e.g. Olivier who worked for Amel for about 20 years and has a sail-loft above the offices and a no of others who are very good at their jobs - just in case you want to get extra work done over and above the normal haul-out stuff.
 
Double Check Air Tariffs and Timetables

We only experienced Las Palmas and whilst berths are (compared to 'mainland') cheap and I'd endorse whats been said re facilities etc., it is also worth doing your homework on air timetables and tariffs.
In 2007 we found air travel Las Palmas to UK both limited and relatively expensive - compared to what was available via charter on some of the other islands.

lift-out

Marina Rubicon sounds interesting also. The emphasis here for my boat is a lift-out - this is essential as I won´t be leaving her in the water until December when I head accross to Carib. I don´t necessarily need the cheapest deal (which sounds like Las Palmas anyway), simply the best value lift-out facility. Thanks again forumites.
 
We are in Rubicon and have found it very nice. I will be back out on the boat next week if you want any info. The other benefit of Rubicon is the chandler. They are associated with Marinestore in the UK so you can order and pay in UKP but collect from Rubicon.
