My Westerly Fulmar needs the headlining in the forward cabin replacing, but the rest has been replaced. I do not fancy starting with such a large piece so I am looking for someone who can do it for me. I am quite prepared to remove the old lining in preparation and help if necesssary. The Fulmar is currently out of the water until the end of March. Can you recommend someone in the Medway area or prepared to travel here to do the work.

Many thanks.

Nearly 10 years ago now, I had a problem finding a local Company to do this on my Storm at Suffolk Yacht Harbour. One firm quoted for it in the autumn, taking a large deposit, turned up to do the job in early March only to decide it was too difficult and tell me he wouldn't do the job after all. He then denied having received a deposit from me and it took stern words to educate him on that so i finally got my money back in May, but still had droopy headlinings.

The following winter I got in touch with Roger Nantais who advertises in the WOA magazine. Despite being Hampshire based, he provided a quote lower than the local firm had, including his travel and accomodation costs. It wasn't much more than buying the kits for a DIY job from Hawke House. He turned up when promised having planned a 5 day job then rang me on day 3 saying he would finish at end of day 4, if I wanted to inspect before he left. He even fixed a couple of upholstery problems for no extra charge while he was there.

The linings were still like new when I sold the boat 3 years later, so i was a very happy customer.

I believe he used to be a trimmer for Westerly, when they were in business.

Hope this helps,

Thank you Peter for that personal recommendation. Roger Nantais is already top of my list to contact. I am a member of the WOA and contribute regularly on the forum about the renovations to my Fulmar.
