Can you mix Volvo VDS-2 and VDS-3 oil?

As the title says...........can you mix Volvo VDS-2 and VDS-3 oil? Both are 15W/40 grade.

If they shouldn't be mixed, which one would you recommend for use in my Volvo D4-210 engine?

VDS-2 is specified in the original manual

VDS-3 seems to be now recommended

You will see that one complies with API CG-4 and ACEA E3. The other with the later API CI-4 and ACEA E5 specs
