Hi all, please accept my apologies for posting yet another call for support from the goodly people of the YBW forum for the Forum Charity Cycle ride but I do have some exciting news that I would like to avoid getting lost in the Sticky within the MOBO section and the Events Section that YBW have created for us.

Well actually, there's two exciting pieces of news that I wanted to focus on.. firstly, the cycle ride is in the news on the YBW site which cements the fantastic support we're receiving from those behind the scenes in YBW that will hopefully generate further participation and donations. thanks Isobel, Alice, Natalie, Richard and anyone else involved :encouragement:

Here's the link to the news article: http://www.ybw.com/news/boater-orga...british-heart-foundation-after-illness/537625

Secondly, I started a new position with Vodafone on Monday and boy, what an organisation they are when it comes to supporting charities. I've learned during my induction that if we raise at least £350 a quarter (via my Just Giving page), Vodafone will match that amount each and every quarter leading up to the cycle ride. They do this for every employee in the company.. find a charity, show you've raised £350 and they'll match it.

So, please may I ask that folk consider donating something in December to help raise my page to > £350 so I can then request Vodafone to match it.. we can then do the same between Jan - March and April - June giving a total donation for Vodafone of a whopping £1050. here's the link to my Just Giving Page: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/BikeForCharity

Many thanks and sorry again for surfacing this in a separate thread but I hope you understand why.

cheers Gary

p.s. note the Just Text Giving code I've listed in the events section. it's another Vodafone service that is free and makes it super easy to donate. Here's the details: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?415426-Donate-through-Text-Message

Good plan Gary to put this in a new thread. TBH, on this forum the stickies have a history of being such rubbish (inc IPC advertising) that I mentally screen them out and I bet others do likewise. I reckon you should do another reminder each quarter, to get max benefit from Vodafone's matching thing. BTW 3x£350 is £1050, so there's another hundred quid :D :D

now if I didn't wear my heart on the proverbial sleeve, I'd mask my error with something along the lines of "I only did it to attract attention to the thread" but in all honesty, it's a total mathematical cock up that my son (maths graduate) will take great delight in pulling me up on :)

Whomever 'anonymous' is.. thank you so much for your donation.. 1 evening and we've hit the £350 target so i can ask my employer to match it.. simply brilliant!!!

Still plenty more to do to hit my £500 target and the overall target of £5000 for the team so please consider keeping the donations coming :encouragement:

Thanks for your donation Neil, especially considering you're also taking part in the ride.. you're an absolute gentleman :encouragement:

1 evening and we've hit the £350 target so i can ask my employer to match it..
Next week's Vodafone PLC main board meeting: "This new oGaryo bloke is expensive so he'd better be good; he only started on Monday and by 9.15am Wednesday he'd sent a demand for £350" :D :D

I Don't suppose while they are doing all this good work they could sort out their shite 3G network before I move to EE

FWIW I moved from EE earlier this year because I got fed up with not being able to make/receive calls from the comfort of my home office - I went to...... Vodafone, and now can do both in comfort! Horses for courses I guess!

Garyo - I'll save my donation for the next quarter! Promise! ;)
