Can vat UK boat lose it VAT status

some thing to consider.

Joe X boat is UK VAT paid status, he take three year to cruise the EU, 20 months into the trip for what ever reason he needs to sell.
he can't return back to the UK .
the boat is sold to another British guy ,
.
If the boat kept in the EU it would mean he would have to pay EU vat on the boat or move it out every 18 months
If he return back to the UK he would need to pay VAT in the UK.
Another fine mess Brexit got us into to.

Bob I was just thinking last night about the petition thats on line re VAT and comment from some here who won't sign because they think it won't effect them ,

I am in exactly the same position ,I have applied for 5 year residency here in Greece.
The rules allow me to still travel anywhere I want ,within local Laws .
And a base in Europe ,not as good as it was but managble .
Hopefully I will find a way in Italy later in the year .
You are a true Sailor and you will overcome theses beaurcratic problems .
