I’m just rereading Joshua Slocum‘s Sailing alone around the world. He had a wood burner too. Great book.

Would make it perfect boat for your climate.
Put it against the left side front bulkhead and an aircon unit on the right hand side.

P.s. there are 3 wooden boats in our boatyard, quietly maturing away that would be ideal for you that i am sure are available to a discerning buyer. If you bought two you could use the second one as fuel for your stove.

Quietly maturing… does the rot glow in the dark yet? If not, leave them another year or two.

We love our wood stove. Couldn’t imagine winter sailing without it.
And there's the story told by Frank Muir or Denis Norden on BBC Radio's "My Word". In which an Eskimo (when that name was thought acceptable) found his kayak was stuck in the ice and he was freezing to death. He kept ripping bits of wood of the boat and burning them to keep warm, until there was no buoyancy left and he drowned. Which sorry tale proved that you cannot have your kayak and heat it....

A friend had a decent sized coal stove in his boat. What a joy!

As Sleightholme (or was it Dessouter?) put it, sitting in vests below while there's snow on the decks!
Have we got to the point here that carrying coal on board, and feeding your coal stove is in some way superior to pressing a button, and, as if by magic, warm air comes out of grilles inside the boat, eliminating condensation, and enabling the Mrs to get her kit off unhindered by the outside weather?
As for the vests, sounds a bit perverse to me.
