We are down near Arles/Port Saint Louis and I should really replace my Leisure batteries.
There dont seem to be many places to get these ( or many DIY items we take for granted in the UK)
Even the chandlers seem to just have starter batteries and the prices seem high.
We can manage until we return next spring when I guess we can bring out 2 more batteries.
Any recommendations please?

I renewed all my batteries from the French online branch of Battery Megastore. Their prices were slightly more than UK Battery Megastore - so I haggled with them and they sold them at the UK price at the days exchange rate. They arrived well-packed a couple of days later. I was very pleased, especially as most mail order stores in France are rubbish.

All very expensive. Iirc there is a truck/commercial place somewhere near Martigues which may be worth a visit, as long as you have transport!! :)
Depending on what size, you could try the big supermarkets.
Alternatively you could get a price from Fluid Elec, Ports Saint Louis on the way to Navy Service.
SMS in Port Napoleon or DMS (David & Matthew Berry) also in Port Napoleon.

Many leisure batteries are no different to starter batteries, other than the label and the marketing. How many Ah and how heavy are the ones you can buy. AFAICT Reasonable 110Ah batteries seem to weigh about 28kg or more.

There a big different between a start and a leisure , I wouldn't buy a start battery for a domestic bank .

that was going to be my suggestion too

There is an enormous number of camper vans in France. They all have leisure batteries and they readily available at motorist shops such as Roady and Speedy.

Depends on if you're French, or not; most Brits abroad, don't think anything you buy outside of the UK is any good (regardless of where it is made!), whereas most Europeans don't seem to have a problem.

Judging by the post title in your case, the answer is no you can't. :o

Well I am European and have nothing against Batteries made in France germany ( or even china !!)
It is just that I havnt found many shops dealing with liesure batteries!
The tip about Battery Megastore was perfect though. 2 Batteries ordered at UK prices to be delivered on Monday!!
Many thanks

When I wanted a Battery in France I went to a Tractor Dealer and they ususually have a good range of batteries, often larger than ones sold by Battery Shops/French Halfords.

With honourable suppliers, I would agree, but many cheap batteries labelled as leisure, or marine, or marine deep cycle, or leisure deep cycle, or any combination, are no different to starter batteries.

If you pay about £70 for a 110Ah battery, it won't be much good for leisure use, and definitely won't be deep cycle, whatever tha label says.

So I was merely warning the uninitiated regarding the nefarious marketing that goes on with cheap "leisure" batteries.
