this is the inside of one of the aft side lockers with a stringer at an angle
would it be safe to drill into in and screw a shelve down onto it ?
the pump for my AP would sit on it with some of the other control units
or can you guys think of a better way to provide for a support in this space ?
That will be a hollow moulded stringer. Personally I’d think long and hard before making holes in it. Why not epoxy or glue with Sikaflex a length of ply or wood onto it and screw/glue into the wood?
On the other hand I freely confess that I’ve drilled holes through stringers in the past without too many problems. You do have to think about how secure the screws will be in what is relatively thin fibreglass.
I’ve heard of people putting rivnuts into fibreglass as if it’s done with care it can work very well.
