I have bought a boat on the South Coast which I wish to bring round to the Thames. Presently it would not pass a BSS examination mainly due to the sea toilets and no holding tanks.
My intentions are to obtain moorings in Penton Hook or another marina and do what work is necessary to obtain a BSS certificate and then licence the boat.
The boat does not need to come out of the water to do the modifications.

Is this possible to do if so what are the necessary steps forms etc I will need to do/get

Thanks
Dave

You can purchase a visitors licence from Teddington on your way up!

You can purchase a few more before you'll need a BSS and EA registration if you want to use the boat on occasion... :encouragement:

If you are sailing her round you can buy a visitors licence to get you to PH. Get your BSS ticket then apply for a yearly licence. You do not need a holding tank to obtain a BSS it only covers items of safety like gas supply and the correct type of fuel hoses!

To buy a Thames Visitor licence you will be signing to say that the vessel complies with the Boat Safety Scheme.
However, you would be entitled to purchase a Section 9 licence to cover movement of the vessel to a stated destination for repair.
It costs the same as a visitor licence, but at a daily rate with no concessions.

You can enter the non-tidal Thames without a BSC but you must sign a declaration that you boat meets the required standard to get a temporary licence. However, the toilet is not covered by the BSC but should be sealed to prevent discharge.
