Can I BBQ at Runnymede EA moorings?

The signs say no barbecues no generators and no double mooring if I remember right. Another option is just past French Brothers on left (going upstream) there is a low wall you can tie up. Not very salubrious and probably full anyway i guess if there is an event.
I noticed the big Humber Lighter barge up near there the other day but think he was tucked out the way so not hogging useful mooring space to be fair.

Not a clue. There are notices at Runnymede stating the moorings are reserved for invited participants of the event. No idea if they're allowed to do that or not, but they've done it nonetheless!!

Is this the EA moorings just above the boatyard (used to be called CS marine not sure if it still is) . the reason I ask is I would call that Egham not Runnymede. Being a bit of a pedant but I am now wondering if the location being discussed may be by the playground and open park area which is usually no mooring at all apart from the Tarzan imitation paddle steamer which has a landing point there.
From the tight bend onwards upstream it is National Trust I think, up to French bros.

I guess the EA like any other landowner on the River has the power to allocate mooring spaces as they wish.

I was a bit concerned about the earlier claim that the River will be closed to navigation at some point - is that correct? I thought it was to be kept open but I suppose if HRH de merde is involved maybe its different.

The Egham bit then - against the big warehouse, just up from the boatyard.

The river is open as usual tomorrow (albeit with a narrower channel as there will be an organised parade on the Runnymede side).

The river is closed to navigation between 0900 and 1145 on Monday as HRH will be there. For security, innit!

Sounds like it might have been quite a nice event in terms of watching boats and varnish spotting but as I understand it this won't be repeated for a while.
About 100 years?
Would be nice if something like that (preferably without the queen closing the River) could happen yearly. I guess the closest equivalent is Henley with the regatta and the trad rally and the Henley festival and the 80s rewind festival.

Perhaps there should be a yearly Magna Carta festival - apparently the Magna Carta specifically disallowed the collection of mooring fees on the banks of the River but this may have been overruled at some stage I'm not quite sure

Sunday was great fun. Thankfully we cruised up river to watch the pageant - our friends were on the official EA moorings and they were well beyond the finish of the event. There were quite a few boats tied up along the pageant channel and I suspect they had a better view, though they could not get into the event unless they had passes.
