Can anyone tell me what this is, please? It's about 3-1/2" high and 3" wide. Made by IYE, England.

er.. I suppose you are after more than.. 'It's a block'

Correct! Something suitable for an heading in eBay was more what I had in mind. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you turned it upside down, looking at angles on the foot, it could screw to the underneath of the boom and become part of the main-sheet arrangement, it looks a bit heath-robinson but would probably work quite well. Is there a similar double block on the track?

The picture is obviously not up to my usual Lord Snowdon standard. In fact it is designed to be fastened to a flat surface.

I'm gratified by your keen interest in it. Perhaps you might even like to buy it?

I believe it's called an over-the-top block but that may be an Americanism. Used for taking control lines over the forward edge of cabins coamings rails etc.

Yes. It is from an airship. They were used for the steering lines.

Well in that case, when I put it on eBay, I'll list it under military collectibles. Should be worth a lot more than a mere deck block.

More silly answers anyone? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
