I have a topper topaz on launching trolley but don't have a road trailor, i need to move my boat from one yard to another but the route is tricky by foot. Does anyone in Portsmouth want to heklp me and earn a few quid in the process? It'd fit onto the roadbase of a combi trailor.

Exactly from where to where and do you have a tow vehicle and is there a dead-line?

.

Hopefully before the end of the month and from southsea marina to sailing club at the top of the eastern road (it's about 4 miles drive, maybe slightly less). Sorry forgot to say no i can't tow it. I'm asking if anyone has a combi roadbase that wants toearn a few quid moving my dinghy.

It seems not, i was wondering about a roof rack? not sure if it'd be safe'

If I was a bit closer I'd help ... roof rack job.

It's actually 1.9 miles in a sheltered harbour.

Saturday = 8 degrees and a SE wind.

Can't you find someone to sail it for you and you run them back by car?

<20 mins less any tide.

It used to be normal to carry smaller dinghies on roof racks, I drove from the UK to Calpe in Spain with a topper on the top. Many laser sailors carry their boats on the roof to regattas. What is the problem with the topaz

if you are moving to Tudor SC , I believe they have a road trailer that is available for loan to club members? If you are a member, go to the club website and email the dinghy captain or the compound bosun.
I would help, but having just bought a new car it isn't fitted with a towbar (yet - bought one but weather hasn't let me fit it yet) and my roofrack from old car won't fit the new one either!

I'm sure roof rack would be ok.
We travelled all over Europe with a Mirror dinghy and launching trolley on the roof of the car, could even manage to get it on and off single handed.

cheers all, very helpful bunch.
I am going to attempt a walk with the dinghy as i think i've worked a reasonable route out

I'll let you know if i abort

I towed my launch trolley behind my tender once. The tyres supplied buoyancy and the handle end was tied to my transom. Maybe a couple of fenders or plastic bottles would add some buoyancy.
Are you not very popular at either sailing club? I would have thought someone was up for a jaunt in a rib.
