Can anyone help me identify this rubber strip (and what it is for)?

About a year ago I did a big clean-up of the yacht (under construction). Anything that was not needed I put into boxes and stored them in the shed. (All the hose clips were in one box and there were boxes for electrical, plumbing, seals, hoses etc)

This morning I looked at the box with all the rubber tapes in it and I'm trying to identify each type. I've identified the
  • Velcro strip,
  • Self Amalgamating tape (Top left hand corner)
  • Waterproof sealant Tape Kitchen corner gap Mould Proof PVC adhesive (Top R/H)
  • Four rolls of rubber strip with a little silver device for each.
The four rolls are each 2M long and 30mm wide so I must have planned to use a fair bit of it (It is not adhesive backed) The rubber strip is higher at the center with tapered edges

It wouldn't have been expensive so I'm not too worried (I was planning to sound-proof the engine room at one stage)

I've taken a couple of photos. Can anyone tell me what the rubber strip is used for?

Thanks in advance

To wrap a stainless wheel, al la bicycle handlebars? (I think it is handlebar tape with bar end caps.
I think you are ABSOLUTELY right!! I can't believe it

I am a keen bike-rider but despite my bikes being rusty (off the rubbish dump!) I wasn't going to use it for that.

I must have been going to use it to seal something like the toilet door (soundproofing) That's my latest thinking.

You go to Top of the Class!

Thank you
