Can a big zip be repaired?

The zip on the forward dodger on my inflatable has broken. It's the zippy bit that slides up and down the teeth. It fell in half and was lost. The teeth are in perfect condition and it would probably cost a fortune to have new zip sewn in so is it possible to get a new zippy bit and refit it?

I have in the past bought lengths of big toothed zip off the roll at a sail/cover maker. The running part was a separate item so try somebody like this and you may well get a result.

Try online caravan or awning places - I'm sure I've seen repair kits contining the moving bit plus end stops for various sized zips.

If you are near Tiverton, Heathcoat's factory shop usually has a good range of strong zips in stock, and they are relatively cheap !
