Hello all you wonderfully helpful peeps out there.
My wife and I are traveling down to Southhampton from the North of Scotland tomorrow evening to look at a few yachts.
We have boats to look at in Lymington, Hamble & Gosport.
We will be staying for 3-4 days and are looking for a suitable campsite to base ourselfs at.
I am wondering if anybody can recomend one?
many thanks

Come down the M3, turn west, look for signs saying New Forest and then just keep you eyes open. Try doing a Google of New Forest, something will come up.

If the weather is good you will have a lovely weekend, the sites are run by the forestry Commision so are well managed, oops /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif its years, I mean years and years since we camped there, but I can't see there would have been much change, enjoy and good boat hunting!

There used to be a camp site at Lee on Solent, if I remember, it was at the eastern end of the coast road to Gosport. I stayed there a couple of times when visiting my son at the Naval Base. It had a good shower block and a bar, what more can you ask for.

Stan

Sorry the Forestry Commission campsites are now closed for the winter.

There's a privately run one on Lymore Lane on the road to Milford on Sea that's open near me.

I notice none of these rich south coast sailors have offered to put you up,obviously not as hospitable as us up north!

Some of us 'rich safties' have open cockpits rather then than poofs paradise enclosed wheel house that some motorsailors have, not a million miles from here. No names, no packdrill.

Well you don't say if it's a tent, caravan or motorhome, but assuming the latter why not try the nearest marina to where you want to be. They have showers, car parks and you'll be on the spot enjoying the "atmosphere".

Chichester Marina have done this for me in the past, I just asked to pay for the length like a boat. If the broker/dealer is on a marina ask him if you can park by his office and "btw what's the number for the showers?" Should work OK.

Happy birthday Chris, have a good one!

As far as I can see the whole of the south coast is one big camp site full of saft southern poofs mincing about!

As an alternative, Southampton now has quite a few of the budget hotels ie Travelodge etc.

Might be worth checking their rates.
