Camping space in Windsor, Datchet, Old Windsor area

Hi

I'm looking for somewhere where we may be able to pitch 3 or 4 small tents (10 people) in the Windsor, Datchet, Old Windsor area.

We are travelling upstream from Hampton Court by boat (two small 4m powerboats) so would need to moor these within walking distance of the camping space.

I have looked at amerdencaravanpark.webs.com but I think this is too far upstream to get to in one day.

It needs to be upstream of Staines really to make the journey worthwhile.

Is there anywhere at Pentoon Hook to camp?

The nearest camping spot with facilities and moorings that I can think of, is Cookham Lock. An excellent spot and not far from a good night out.

You could try at Boveney Lock. If there is space you may be able to moor your boats and pitch the tents on the lower island. There is a shower and toilet. Short walk into Dorney Village, pubs and restaurants. You will have to pre-book the space with the lock keeper. 01753 862764.

Fantastic, thanks, that would be ideal. Do people think that Molesey Lock to Boveney Lock is doable in a day? Would be an early start.

If they don't have space for you at Boveney, you might consider www.lalehamcampingclub.co.uk. It's about a quarter of an hour downstream of Penton Hook (which you'd suggested). I've used it a couple of times - friendly warden, adequate facilties. Public moorings about half a mile away at Laleham village, but you can find small spaces among the trees near the site.
