Agreed -your PC will need a Firewire port or an IEEE 1394 card connected via a USB port. Is your camcorder new? If so, they are normally supplied with the appropriate connecting lead (which are often camera specific) and the necessary PC downloading and editing software.

Thanks for the feedback.

Answers are...Yes have got a Firewire 1394 I/O Controller card.

The camera is new and came with a few leads for watching on a TV..EG Scart lead, But there was no software and i am told by the shop there is none.

Completely agree. New Macs from £319 complete with all the software you will ever ever need for what you want to do. Some amazing and simple to use movie/still picture editing software. A Mac will change your life.

Sadly we have what we have and more importantly we don't find out until later thar that you have to pay for every plug to allow you to get to your final destination.
I had a bundled version of nero and all the time I have had to add at extra cost when the High priced retails have it all.
But we can't just change our systems like that when we've evolved with them but that's life.

Kind regards.

Peter.
