I'm considering adding a bundle of cam-cleats onto my coachroof to hold the more lightly loaded lines. The boat is 27'/3 tons. What would peeps consider are the relative merits of the various makes....?

I suspect most of the manufacturers are much of a muchness but I only ever use ones with alloy heads.
You do mean cam cleats as opposed to clam cleats? Either way, still alloy.
