Quick question ......... Do I need a non-return valve in the freshwater supply line?? Logic says yes 'cos water in at bottom and water out at top = head of water alway at pump but I cant find one inline.

cheers

Do you have a pressurised water system? If so, there is a non-return valve in the pump to maintain pressure when the taps are turned off. If so, you will not need an additional non return valve for the calorifier.

If you don't put one the heat will gradually creep back along the feed line and sometimes the cold water will be slightly warm.

They are a standard plumbers part and can be found in brass or plastic. My local B&Q has the plastic ones in stock.

I have a brass one spare you are welcome to have.

PM me your address

That happened to me, when I turned on the cold tap I got hot water until the pressure dropped and the pump cut in.
Fitting a low cost in-line non-return valve just before the calorifier fixed that problem for me.
