He very rarely goes into that chatroom thing. Just logs in and sits there with a funny sort of look on his face. The sort of glazed look that a physco has just before they pounce! Oh sorry thats Bogbrush.

Re: Missing

Before I get reported missing or called an imposter, I had better tell you all that I am off to a rig off Angola next Monday. Will be there for about 4 weeks and if it is the same as last time I was there, the oil company will not allow us Internet access, just email.

So I get withdrawl symptoms for a month and have to listen to the BBC World Service instead.

Still, at least it will be warmer than the freezing north. I am widening my drive to make it easier to get boat trailer in and out. Poured first layer of concrete onto hardcore last weekend and have been waiting for a frost free night ever since to pour the top coat. Fat chance at present - today the ice never even melted.

A suntan will soon make it feel all better.

Titch is alive & well and living in Kirby Cane. I bumped into her in the village shop on Sunday evening.

Aaaaaahhhh....I've been missed....bless.
Sorry guys but swmbo has a new job and leaves home around halfsix am and not back till 6ish pm so time here a bit pushed. Also early to bed cos up early ....we are having to adapt to a new routine and even the bogbrush is objecting a little!

Cant wait for the weather to improve a little.....life without weekends on boat is a bit dreary to say the least.
Still, never mind, I hear on the grapevine that Sun_Coast (bit of a pratty name dontcher think?) is going to pay my fare out to Spain to take some piccies of his new boaters creche thingy............there go the pigs again........

Re: Missing

<font color=blue> Angola! Chris! Tell me. You remember that guy who got a hefty prison sentance there for being a mercenary? I think his nickname was "Colonel Callan" I think his actual military experience prior to the was as an army cook. Any idea what happened to him?

Re: Missing

Byron,

Last time I was in Angola was about two years ago, when the civil war was still going on.

The flights from Paris (Air France or TAA) were interesting, approach made at first light of dawn from over the sea then straight in and down on the runway, less of a target for SAMs that way.

Never used to get any time ashore, just into Luanda, transfer to the Sonangor flight up to Cabinda and then either straight offshore or helicopter transfer to the safety of the Chevron compound.

So, although I've been there a few times, know little about the country really. It used to be a beautiful place about 30 years ago, but since the Portugese left the internal conflict and corruption have taken a huge toll on the economy. There is plenty of oil, but the revenue seems to find it's way into very few bank accounts.

Speaking to an angolan Engineer whom I was working with in Equatorial Guinea, he said that things had improved a lot in the last couple of years since the peace declaration.

Will be interesting to see how things are now. Can't remember Colonel Callan, just vaguely recall the story.
