Proposed get together at Fosdyke Yacht Haven on Saturday 18th July 2009, high water is about 14-25 GMT at Tabs Head so if coming by boat, that could be the best time to come in.
Idea is to have a social gathering and relax with friends so nothing formal, maybe a drink together then on for a bit to eat at the recently opened Ship Inn. If there's enough interest I may need to book so please stick your names down and let's have a good weekend

List so far, add yourself if interested

Hi,
I would be intrested, but will not be able to come by sea as its on a neap weekend and from Wainfleet. what time would we be meeting?

cheers

alex

Count me in.... subject to getting there. I should be there then... I should have been there a while by then actually.

Tide time suits me (but what tide wouldn't /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) although it might be better for anyone coming by boat from a bit further if it was a week later, or earlier....

Not got the tide tables with me, but I'm guessing the weeks either side would be 9-10am and 9-10pm'ish, might be a bit late for a meal by then!

If Alex and ggt would prefer to come by boat maybe they could offer an alternative......

Feeding faces is the reason I went for that date because it's not too late, but yep, if another one is better I'll go along with it. Over to Alex & Ggt then

as Ken says the tides either side of that weekend would be better, I've not got my tide table either been trying to look on the net for times but can't get longer predictions than 7 days. I could come by car if everyone else would prefer the original date.

cheers

alex

Are these any help ?
Set for GMT at Tabs Head, decided not to go for Paris Mean Time for obvious reasons /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thanks for the tide table the 11th looks like 21.50 bst 6.3m or the 25th is 21.45 7.3m. in my opinoin the 11th would be best as a smaller tide and I would come in earlyer as less flood running i would be at the pontoons for 19.50 ish. is that too late?

Don't think 19-50 is too late to arrive on that tide, it doesn't look like it's going to be a particularly strong one (relatively speaking) so arriving on the pontoon when it's still flowing shouldn't be too much of a problem, so we shall make it 11th July then. I'll pass it on to the other site and hope himself is happy wth that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The pub is within easy walking distance of the marina, and I'm not going to mention what time he closes /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Right, that's decided then, anyone else going to come and join us ?

Ive been in a few tides so not worried about turning at that state of the tide.

would you have an objection to me bringing a few boats from wainfleet if they were interested?

Definately no objection here, I was hoping to make it up to the BBQ myself but things got in the way as usual. Just update with numbers etc please, so I can let the landlord know what to expect. It might mean a bit of rafting up if it gets busy on the pontoon but I don't think anyone is going to object to that. Looking forward to meeting a few more people

Wait till they see me trying to steer the boat towards them with a slight threat of actually having it under control. They'll object then. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We'll have the MTB ready for any boats coming in that don't look to be under control /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously though, if you do make it, try to aim for as late as possible arrival. It's not looking too bad at all that day but there is very little room to swing and with the bridge just past the pontoon you don't want to be fighting the tide too. Plenty of people likely to be around so come in close and throw a line if needed and you'll be pulled in. Aim for the pontoon on the left side of the river as you come in, and don't go inside between it and the bank unless someone indicates for you to go that way. I'll be on Ch16 too with luck, so call up when you reach Tabs Head.
Don't cross the bar too early /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Forgot about that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
You going to try and make it Niel ?, after the pirates weekend it could be more relaxing for you and easy reach for driving, or stop over maybe ?

Ah.... but all the evidence will be on film......

.... or have you retrieved the camera from the top of the mast now?

I locked in here with a chap in a 27footer. Had a bit of a chat with him, told him what I was doing, then when he went out for a sail I asked him if he wanted a race. He looked at me like with a "yeah right, like I have a chance"

It's funny. Just because I'm going around the UK, people think I can actually sail! haha.

Nah, I'll be fine getting in. I'm getting quite used to not playing Kudu pinball in the marina now. In fact, it could almost be said that it's looks like I know what I'm doing. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I hope I do make it. Will keep you updated though. I might bus it if I'm in wells.
