This is not about me....I am way beyong calibration.

I have installed these engines at 15 degrees. Ish.

I don't know what angle they we're previously installed at.

The dipsticks are roughly halfway along the sump, they appear to show far too much oil.

Assume to get this correct I need to pump it all out, pour in the recommended amount for minimum, mark the stick, top up to max, mark the stick?

I have the filters and the oil ready, just need to get straight in my head the order of events.

One thought strikes me
The oil filter needs to be full, cos if it aint and you plop lube in the measure will be different when the filter sucks some in
Sorry, hope that doesn't cause more confusion

There is not a straightforward answer to this. The oil capacity will depend on the installation, oil pick up, sump etc. This is a question for a guru like Latestarter1, but I'm sure he will need more info.

Sadly Perkins Sabre data sheets are nothing more than fluff, the datasheet produced by CAT for their version of 225Ti painted yellow will likely give you the answer however cannot lay my hands on it at the mo.

Engines need to be installed 'dry'.

Vessel afloat.

From data sheet or other 'official' source you require 'Total system capacity' and lube filter capacity.

Fill engine with lube less twice the lube filter capacity which is generally a liter for this size of engine, therefore if total lube system capacity is 15 liters fill to 13. Pre fill lube oil filter and run engine.

Stop engine and allow oil level to settle. This is your 'low' mark. Now add equivalent to lube filter capacity which will take you to total system capacity, run the engine again and allow to settle, this is your 'high' mark.

If engines have been used in other installation buff off old marks and re-mark with engraver NOT a hacksaw, the spring steel loves to drop off at the point marked with a hacksaw!
